Prix Caprilli Clinic or Cavaletti / Pole Work
Prix Caprilli is a combination of jumping and dressage performed simultaneously in the same arena. It is named after Captain Federico Caprilli, an Italian cavalry instructor, who is credited with inventing the forward seat
The Clinic will be run by Ashley Suddes and there will be a maximum of 4 people and will cost £20 per person.
Why not come and have a go
You can come and practice the four Prix Caprilli classes -
Class 1: Raised Poles - this is a test in walk and trot only and incorporates trotting poles
Class 2: 50cm - this is a test in walk, trot and canter. There will be three low cross poles to be jumped out of a trot, and one small upright to be jumped out of a canter in both directions
Class 3: 60cm with 2 jumps - this is a test in walk, trot and canter. There will be two jumps
Class 4: 60cm with 3 jumps - this is a test in walk, trot and canter. There will be three jumps
It is a simple test of horsemanship in which a horse's all round schooling can be shown. To get good marks, the horse should be obedient and move in balance with a rhythmic tempo. Jumping the fences, or trotting over the poles, should be done smoothly with a minimum of disturbance to the rhythm.
Copies of the tests have been provided - please note all tests will be performed in a 20m x 40m arena.
